Jobs in the Green Industry

Want to get involved in caring for our urban forest? There are several pathways to consider for those interested in careers in the Green Industry.

Interested in becoming an arborist? Learn the skills needed to care for our urban forest through the Arborist Apprenticeship Program of the Wisconsin Technical College System. Apprenticeship programs combine classroom training with real-world experiences at a local company.

If you're not ready to commit to a full apprenticeship, you may consider Northcott Neighborhood House's Arborist Pre-Apprenticeship Program. No experience needed!

Prefer to keep your feet on the ground? There are a variety of jobs available in the nursery and landscape industry in Southeast Wisconsin. To find jobs, visit the Wisconsin Landscape Contractors Association (WLCA) job board. Jobs include turf management, sprinkler maintenance, landscape installation, hardscape (patios, walkways, etc.) installation, and more.

If you already have tree climbing experience and are looking for employment, visit the Wisconsin Arborist Association's (WAA) job board. They post positions from across the state, and you can filter by the type of job or county to help narrow your search.

For employment with the City of Milwaukee, you'll have to register for the city's e-Notify system and sign up for job announcements in the areas you're interested in working.
